Itasca 3DEC is a 3D numerical modeller from Itasca for advanced geotechnical analysis of soil, rock, groundwater, structural support and masonry. The numerical formulation of this software is based on the discrete element method (DEM) for discontinuum modelling. UDEC is its 2D version. Discontinuous materials are represented as a set of discrete blocks. Discontinuities are treated as boundary conditions between blocks. Large displacements with discontinuities and rotations of blocks are allowed. The joint structure can be directly generated from geological mapping into the model. The software also includes the powerful Itasca built in FISH programming language. With FISH you can write scripts for users who wish to add functionality for custom analysis.
Itasca 3DEC Software Features and Features:
Material models include: Elastic, Anisotropic, Mohr-Coulomb, Drucker-Prager, Two-Line Ductility, Pressure Softening, Creep and User Defined
Modeling features may include boundary and wave absorption for full dynamic response.
Extensive, interactive 3D menus based on OpenGL on-screen graphics
Available plots include: Joint Structure, Block Structure, Displacement, Velocity Vectors and Lines
The tool includes a preprocessor that reads AutoCAD and 3DEC files to generate polyhedra.
Perform effective stress calculations using pressure pore gradients
